INDEX11, the nonwovens industryʼs triennial exhibition, takes place in Geneva, Switzerland, April 12-15 2011, Geneva PALEXPO.
Diaper Closures
Avery Dennison supports diaper manufacturers with a comprehensive diaper closure portfolio that satisfies the needs of baby diapers and adult incontinence products in both emerging and mature markets, and for high- and economic-product tiers.
Several new Avery Dennison nonwoven diaper closure innovations being displayed at INDEX11 were designed and developed based on input from mothers and fathers.
“Our interviews with parents revealed that comfort and ease-of-use remain high among their customer satisfaction priorities,” reports Brigitta Van den Driessche, Avery Dennison global product manager, Personal Care. “In response, we are making it easier for users to find and open a tab on a diaper and we are looking at alternative materials to make Avery Dennison closures even softer. Visitors to our booth will be exposed to a new range of products that directly address baby comfort and simplified diaper handling.”
Van den Driessche adds that Avery Dennison diaper closure innovations also benefit diaper marketing and manufacturing. “We offer extensive customization options that enhance the look and feel of a diaper,” Van den Driessche explains. “Customized closures offer diaper manufacturers a powerful way to brand their products. Beyond that, Avery Dennison also offers diaper manufactures engineering assistance to make sure the tape closures run well on their equipment.”
Medical Device Tapes and Technology
Avery Dennison technology platforms for medical devices meet manufacturer and enduser requirements for reliability, innovation and quality. Products on display at the show will include:
- Surgical Drape tapes that fill a wide range of skin adhesion needs are available as bordering tapes, fenestration tapes and OP strips. The tapes can be produced with proprietary adhesives, such as WetStick™, which adheres securely to skin even when the drape becomes wet during surgery.
- Surgical Incise Films that provide breathability required for virtually any
procedure, even in difficult to drape areas. Efficient application systems, such as handling bars and adhesive-free areas, make the films easy to position and apply. The films offer superior adhesion in difficult and moist conditions throughout the procedure.
- Ultra-Thin Hydrocolloids offer benefits for wound care applications, including increased comfort and flexibility, longer wear time, gentle removal and reduced skin softening and irritation.
- Ostomy products are designed for application to the skin for sustained periods where moisture vapor transmission (MVTR) is essential. Non-sensitizing, non3 porous adhesives are ideal for ostomy applications and can be incorporated into products for connection systems, skin contact flanges and ostomy bags.
“This is a significant opportunity for us to present our comprehensive range of nonwoven solutions to a global audience,” reports Colleen Ward, director of global marketing, Avery Dennison Medical Solutions. “We continuously advance Avery Dennison core nonwoven technologies to help our partners address current medical market demands while working to address future needs.”
In addition to medical and personal care applications, Avery Dennison offers nonwoven solutions for the automotive, electronics, appliance, transportation, building and construction, and specialty packaging sectors.
